Jolly Jumper Morinda SF

Gelding Chestnut 4 years old

General comments

Jolly Jumper Morinda joined us on the 13th of March 2019. Pretty soon he revealed himself to be a lively colt, full of curiosity and very amenable with humans. He is also very elegant and full of vim and vigour. He’s a real bundle of dynamite.

At two weeks old, he is rarely on four legs all at the same time. Blessed with incredible energy, he only stops to sleep or feed, then is off again into the air like a catapult. He loves to be upright and gallops in all directions under the incredulous gaze of his mother (who is getting used to him). Poor Ocean wonders where this little extra-terrestrial has come from!

At seven months, Jolly Jumper, who has just been weaned, is a magnificent foal with great size and good bone… He is very much out of the ordinary and is still very gentle! We have great faith in him.

At 3 years old, Jolly Jumper is asserting himself more and more. He is superb, with good bone, paces, and although always full of energy is always so kind! He is very good friends with our beautiful homozygote, James Bond. On the other hand, Jolly Jumper was castrated. He'll soon begin to be backed.

Père : Ulyss Morinda SF

His father Ulyss Morinda, 5 *at the CIRALE, comes from base bloodline that was marked 8 out of 10 by the Selle Français studbook. The line goes back to the Grand Prix mare Utricule (by Monceaux,TB) and then to her daughter Piperazine Laleu, mother of several excellent horses. Ulyss is a carrier of 5 Thoroughbred blood lines, one of which is the famous Laudanum but there’s also Ladykiller, Furioso, Pericles and Monceaux. As a maternal grandfather he also has JALISCO B whom he very much resembles. You can go to his page to see the details of his wonderful bloodline and photos and videos of his performances.

Ulyss Morinda, Hunter Champion of France as a six year old came back to his true discipline, the CSO in 2015 as a seven year old. Ridden from now on by Rik Hemeryck (a Belgian), he won the Young Stallions SF Masters for seven year olds (classed as ‘Very Promising’ by the ANSF) and at nine years old, he was already a winner and had been placed in numerous outings in 1.50m classes (CSI 3*). He took part in his first CSI 5* in Rotterdam in June 2017 and his first 1.55m at the end of the year. He is ISO 150 (2017).

In 2018, Ulyss confirmed his quality, at the start of the year being placed in the 3* 1m50 Grand Prix at Bonheiden only half a second behind Daniel Deusser, being placed 7th in the 1m50 Bourg en Bresse Show Jumping (4*) and soaring over the 1m55 course at Maubeuge with an unbelievable casual air. Still ridden by Rik Hemeryck, he was then placed in the 1m60 Grand Prix, and successfully participated in his first Nations’ Cup  (Gijon CSIO 5*) and obtained an ISO 160 in 2018.

In 2019 he continued to make progress : he was placed many times over 1m50 and 1m55, and won the 1m60 Grand Prix in the UK in front of Laura Kraut (see the News section). He also took part in his first 5* Rolex Grand Prix, and proved that he clearly has the capability to jump these courses. He obtained an ISO 163 for 2019, and in 2020, at only 12 years of age, has exceeded 100,000 Euros in winnings.

Première mère : Ocean's Eleven (octopussy De Beaufour) SF.

The mother of Jolly Jumper Morinda, Octopussy de Beaufour (Ocan's Eleven) was born into the purple : she is uterine sister to the stallion Open Up Semilly (ISO 162), born, like him, at the home of Eric Levallois , she unfortunately only competed in a few small classes.

Parco, her father, is a son of the founding father Darco, one of the best stallions in the world on the WBFSH Stallion show jumping ranking list.  He was himself a great international winner at the World Cup and Olympic level.  Parco inherited his sporting qualities and showed this in important competitions such as coming ninth in the World Championships at Aix-la-Chapelle.

Deuxième mère : Jipsy De La Lande SFA

JIPSY DE LA LANDE, daughter of Arpege Pierreville, took the record in the Nash sales then competed at Grand Prix level under foreign colours.  In 2002, she produced the stallion Open Up Semilly (ISO 162) who competed ridden by Florian Angot up to CSIO.  The full sister of Open Up Semilly, Openfield de Beaufour, also competed at Grand Prix level (1m50) under foreign colours. Their mother, Jipsy de la Lande, then produced the very good Ipsy, who was regularly placed and won competitions over 1m40 and 1m45 (ISO 151). She has also competed in the European Junior Championships over 1m50 with Alice Vancrayelynghe.

Troisième mère : Star De La Lande

STAR DE LA LANDE, by Grand Veneur, produced many winners. The second generation from this excellent mare is just as talented (for example Galant de la Lande, who jumped 1m55, or Uruguay Courcelle who reached the 1m60 level and ISO 152).

This superb maternal family continues with UKRAINE by Ibrahim. It is the direct line of Jo de la Lande (ISO 164), of Quam de la Lande (ISO 156) and Rodosto, ICC 179, ISO 121, who was in the team that became Vice-Champions of the World for Eventing with Jean Teulere at La Haye in 1994.
