First placing in a 1.60m Grand Prix for Ulyss Morinda

Rik Hemeryck and Ulyss Morinda have been at the 4* CSI of Samorin (Slovaquia) – an exceptional site : the X-Bionic Summer Tour.

On Friday 19th of July Ulyss qualified easily over a 1.50m course for the Grand Prix on the Sunday.  He proved to us that a vast grassy arena would not upset him at all and he didn’t give anything a second glance : not the river, nor the big white wall nor the various chandeliers…..

On the Sunday the Grand Prix was very serious (the course builder was the excellent Italian Uliano Vezzani).  The 13 best out of the 50 riders were to go forward into the second round.  Ulyss and Rik finished this first round on 4 faults.  They produced a magnificent round with just an unlucky bar down on the first part of the double (fence 3).  They were in 8th position!

In the second round the partnership had the last upright down.  It was a real pity since Ulyss was literally flying over the poles.  He jumped even better than in the first round.  They finished 11th overall.

What a horse!  He’s so impressive and is still able to give 1.60m fences a good margin each time he clears them.

A little bit more work for our stallion and we should be hearing a lot more about the partnership of Ulyss and Rik!
