Ulyss Morinda, a beautiful success at the CSI weeks 1 and 2 in Knokke

3 placings one of which was in the 1.55m Grand Prix.  BRAVO !

Ulyss and Rik have taken part in two magnificent competitions at the most prestigious Knokke CSI (in June and July 2018).

The first week, in June, Ulyss was placed 4th in the 2nd Qualifier for the Grand Prix behind Gudrun Patteet, Daniel Deusser and Christian Ahlmann.  What a level!  A magnificent round, performed at top speed and a really good placing to crown it all!

During the second week Rik decided not to compete Ulyss more than twice so as not to tire him out before the 4 star in Samorin which he’s off to in ten days time.  On the first day the goal was for him to be placed in the first 20 competitors in the class (out of 110 starters) in order to qualify for the Grand Prix on Saturday, 7th of July.  This was a contract perfectly fulfilled as he finished 15th with a speedy clear round (it would have made no difference if he had gone any faster).  They were placed.

The 1.55m Grand Prix was very selective, very technical and due to that there were no horses who went clear.  Ulyss and Rik were number 56 and because of this Ulyss had to jump at 10 in the evening, which didn’t put him off at all.

We were really disappointed when he took out the last fence.  Ulyss was well inside the time, nevertheless very short, and, if he had managed to have gone clear would have won this class.  We were so close!  All the same Ulyss was placed, his first placing over 1.55m.  There’ll be others!

Ulyss flew over the fences including the really big triple, often giving at least 10 to 15cm of room, stupefying the public by his ease and his perfect style!  Rik and he have a perfect understanding of one another and will be going even further together!
